Photo Tiles

These are photo tiles I did for each of the girls in the band flute section.  I had a hard time keeping the ink from bleeding.  I tried every suggestion I got!  No matter what I did, if I put mod podge on top of the photo, the colors would bleed.  What I finally did was use mod podge to apply the photo to the tile (printed on tissue paper) and then just used several coats of acrylic sealer on top.  I also coated the tissue paper photos with a light coat of sealer, BEFORE I adhered them to the tile.   The first few I did had a lot of wrinkles in them, but I got better as I went along.  These were smooth ceramic tiles I had.  I think it might have worked better with stone tiles too.  It was definitely a learning experience!!!!

Double Slider Album-slider fix and tips

I couple people have e-mailed about problems with the slider panel.  I've been trying a few things to make it work smoother, and here is what I have come up with.

Heavy cardstock works best.  The thinner the cardstock, the more issiues I have  noticed.  To solve the problem, I have added a chipboard support strip. (cereal box!!)  See Picture.  You may even want to go 4" wide with it.

Then center your plastic strip over this, following video instructions.  Make sure you adhere your plastic strip on the bottom edge, this is important!  You don't want the overlap piece to have to travel over the edge of the paper.  With the chipboard support, I was able to use a strip of page protector instead of plastic bag, and it worked.

I alos recommend putting a rbbon pull at the top and bottom of each slider panel to aid in opening and closing.  It makes it much easier to open and close.  Also keep your slide out panels simple, so there aren't embellishments to snag as it opens and closes.
Hope this helps!!!!!

Cookie Tower Carrier

My original ds file for the cookie tower carrier was not cutting properly.  I forgot to delete the center rectangle on the box papge that I used to make the scoring guide-SORRY.  I fixed it sometime ago, but people still have the bad file.  The link in the original post is for the corrected file.  You can just click on the center rectangle and delete the extra, or download the file again.  I'm very sorry for the problem!!!  I'll also post the link here for anyone who needs it.

Double Slider Mini Album-instructions removed

SLIDER FIX UP A FEW POSTS!!!!

This album is a spin-off of the double slider card. I saw it surfing the web.  There were no instructions for making it.  Half (or more!!!) of the fun for me is in the making.  So I watched Dawn Griffeths double slider card video again, and proceeded to figure it out!  Here is the result.  I do have a cut file, although it isn't necessary.  It's just rectangles.  I will post both the cut file and cutting dimensions.  I am going to do a video tutorial for this one.  It's not hard, but it will be easier to show you than tell you.  Hopefully I'll have it all posted in the next few days.

Pop-Top Cans

Here is this weeks flute section treat.  This is the last week of regular competition.  The championships are Nov. 1, then we are done.  It's a little sad this year, one of my daughters is a senior, and marching band has been a big part of her life.

TRANSFORMERS Card

This is for my nephew, who LOVES all things Transformer!!!!  I used Kut-N-Prints technique for cutting out the transformers with my cricut.  The words and logos are contact paper.  I think he will like it!

Pastor Appreciation Card

Tomorrow is Pastor Appreciation Day at our church.  We are having a fellowship dinner after the service.  We have a wonderful pastor & pastor's wife, and I wanted to make a nice card for them.  I used the same paper that I used to  make the favors and placecards.  It took me FOREVER-I am not good at cards!!!!  It takes me way to long to decide what to do!

Coffee Mug Box-scal 2 file & VIDEO

This is my latest scal project.  I'm sure you are getting sick of boxes!  I don't know why I am so hooked on them.  Anyway, I'm going to use this to package cocoa and coffee gifts this Christmas.  I just threw this together, it's nothing fancy.  I would love to see any you might make!

scal file download issues-UPDATE

UPDATE-
The files are fine.  You cannot double click on a scal file and have it open.  For instance-if you download a file to your desktop and double click on it or right click and "open with", scal will open but there won't be any objects on the mat.  You need to go to file and open the downloaded file.  I know this is different than ds or svg files, but that's how it is!  I have been in touch with craftedge, and this is just how it works.  If you continue to have difficulty, please contact me so we can get it figured out.  Thanks!!!!

There seems to be a problem with downloading my scal files from 4shared.  If you are unable to download a file you would like, please e-mail me and I would be happy to send the file directly to you.  I am very sorry for the inconvenience!!!!

Place cards & sour cream container favors

This is what I spent  all day doing!  I made 150 favors for our pastor appreciation dinner this Sunday, along with place cards for the head table.  The tags for the place cards were made with my tag template system.  I printed them on my computer, then cut them with my cricut.  I used the same avery label as before, and just added another shaped tag to my cut file.  I really love how this works.

Cardholder Box with VIDEO-scal 2

click on pic for larger view

I love this box!  I sized it to hold a set of cards-it will hold quite a few.  But I see lots of other uses for it also-especially if you resize it.  The second video is just a quick overview of the file, and shows how to resize the box.

Here is the download link
Note-I added a small flap to the top side of the box.  It isn't on the video.  I just felt it would like nicer with the flap to fill the gap along the lid.

Simple Treat Bags

I made these for the flute section for Saturdays competition.  I needed something quick and easy this week.  These are lunch bags cut down to 41/2" and covered with decorative paper.  I cut a 3" strip of black paper, used a border punch along each edge and adhered it to the back of the bag.  Then I used my crop a dile big bite (new toy :D) to punch the holes.  Filled them with candy and tied with raffia.  I only used 3 sheets of paper for this one, and it was quick and easy.  Thanks for looking.

Look what my son made!

click on pic for a better view

I am so proud of him.  He made this for his fiances birthday.  She is coming home from college tonight.  I can't wait until she sees it.  She loves the beach-she is going to love this.  He made it all  on his own.  It's the first really "creative " thing I have seen him do.  I only cut the cricut letters for him-he even picked the font.  It was the first time he has used power tools at home. (He's 19) It turned out better than I thought it would.  It is really beautful, the photo doesn't do it justice.  I'm just a proud mama!!!  Thanks for looking!

Sorry I haven't posted!

I'll have something new soon, I promise.  I've just been busy with other things.  I am making the dresses for my son's wedding, and i promised his fiance I would have a couple of different dresses we liked togehter when she came home on her first college break-which is tonight!!!  So I have been sewing and taking care of some of the other things that get neglected while I'm playing with paper!  Thanks for being patient.
